Certain Chaos (a five-minute #freewrite)

Her eyes were as sequins that glimmered beneath the candlelight, akin to the shining stars that sparkled in the midnight skies and as bright as the gleam of blood that glinted as… blood?

That was going to ruin everything. I hurriedly wiped the crimson smear from the marble floors and tossed the napkin into the bin. The surface was clean, no evidence of our host’s deviant desires remained, and I could admire the woman once more. Nothing would tarnish this night, not even him. That was, if I could find her again.

This magnificent ballroom held a crowd the likes of which I would never have believed possible if I were not here experiencing it with my own eyes. It was a Gods-given gift that not one of these people had noticed the drops of blood. A mass of bodies like this, panicking… that would not be healthy. It would be most unhealthy. Our host would probably savour the chaos though, and perhaps that was even his plan.

Either way, our host could enjoy himself long after I departed… and with luck, the woman would be at my side as we ran out into the night and away from the inevitable mayhem.

Ah, there she was. Leaning across one of the many windows, her curves swayed with the music as she stared out into the night –a hand fell upon my shoulder, halting my approach.

Today is Day 427 of @mariannewest’s five-minute #freewrite challenge, and the prompt for today is — sequin — 🙂

This is pretty much what I came up with before the eggtimer website went beep-beep at me, but I decided to tidy it up a teensy bit and give myself an opening for a part two. Let’s see what I can do! 😀

You can find today’s challenge behind these blue words.
